Lace Shawlette – free crochet pattern

5 November 2019 by Sylwia (MyCrochetory) Leave a Comment

Happy October friends! After the big success of my Nightfall Shawl I decided to design another full of lace crochet pattern. Please let me introduce you to my Lace Crochet Shawlette – a little bit of loveliness and drape around your shoulders. The pattering might look complicated but in reality it’s actually quite simple and repetitive!

Scroll down to see the free pattern or you may choose to purchase the ad-free, printable PDF crochet pattern with stitch chart HERE on ETSY or HERE on Ravelry.

I love creating lacy crochet patterns. They are so much fun to work with and stimulate my brain in many ways!

If you haven’t tried it before, learning to crochet lace might takes some time, patience and practice. But, it’s a skill that it’s worth mastering, so don’t let the complex-looking results scare you off!

Lace Crochet Shawlette is a beautiful one skein triangle shawl that is worked top-down from the neck.

This easy construction creates a wonderfully wearable crochet shawlette that you can either wrap around your neck or just wear over the shoulders.

Although the pattern is written in one size, it could be easily made larger or smaller by adding or omitting pattern repeats. Pick your favourite luxurious yarn and make every day more beautiful with Lace Crochet Shawlette.

Lace Crochet Shawlette is the perfect crochet accessory to showcase your favorite variegated hand-dyed or tonal yarns and can be worked using only one skein of most lace yarns.

The original crochet shawlette has been made using in Malabrigo Yarn Lace. I am a big fan of yarns from Malabrigo and if you follow my work may have noticed that I used it before to design Sunny Lace Cowl and Nightfall Shawl.

Depending on the gauge and personal crochet style more yarn can be required to complete this crochet shawlette.

While dimensions and yardage are provided for lace weight yarn, Lace Crochet Shawlette could effectively be worked in fingering weight as well.

I highly recommend using yarn that blocks and drapes really well. To be fully satisfied with the final result you have to block your crochet shawlette properly.

Hope you like it as much as I do!

Materials & Tools:

  1. Yarn Malabrigo Lace 50g = 430m (470yds), 100% baby merino wool, 1 skeins. For the shawl sample I used Whales Road colorway.
  2. Hook  size 2.5mm. Adjust  hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge,
  3. Tapestry needle (to weave and hide yarn ends),
  4. Scissors.

Level: Intermediate.

Size after blocking:

One size: Wingspan – 120cm/47.24”, Center depth – 57cm/22.04”.

Gauge after blocking:

After row 8: Wingspan – 23.5cm/9.25”, Center depth – 11cm/4.33”.

Gauge is not crucial for this project. However, changes might result in different yardage requirements and finished size.
