Hi, I’m Sylwia, the crochet designer behind MyCrochetory! I live in Poland with my husband, my daughter and my little son.
My days are a mix of house duties, kids and new pattern ideas spinning in my head. Somewhere in between, I crochet. A lot.

How I Taught Myself to Crochet
I picked up my first crochet hook in 2016, when my daughter was 10 months old. Nobody showed me how. I learned on my own, stitch by stitch, with tutorials.
My very first project was a granny square blanket for her. From that moment crochet became the greatest passion of mine, and it still is.
Why I Started Designing My Own Crochet Patterns
It didn’t take long. Almost right away I knew that following other people’s patterns wasn’t enough for me. What I really wanted was to design my own.
Around that time I discovered crochet bloggers from across the ocean. I loved how they worked, sharing free patterns on their blogs and selling PDFs to anyone who wanted one. That idea stuck with me, and it’s exactly how MyCrochetory works today.
A Mathematician With a Crochet Hook
Fun fact, I’m a mathematician by education. You can probably see it in my designs, because I’ve always been drawn to geometric shapes.
Triangles, diamonds, stripes running on the diagonal. And mosaic crochet, where every row is a small grid puzzle.
I even taught mosaic crochet workshops at Drutozlot, a big Polish yarn festival. If you want to try the technique, start with the free Drutozlot mosaic crochet cowl.
What You’ll Find on My Crochet Blog
My favorite projects are shawls, so no surprise there are lots of crochet shawl patterns here. I also find lace weight yarn super satisfying to work with, even if many crocheters avoid it like fire.
You’ll also find mosaic crochet patterns, pillows, blankets, cowls, sweaters and cardigans. And if you spot a lot of ochre in my photos, that’s no accident. I have always loved that color.
New to crochet? Start with my free crochet tutorials for beginners. I explain every stitch step by step, with lots of photos, so you’re never left guessing.
Free Crochet Patterns and PDF Versions
Almost every pattern on MyCrochetory is free to crochet right here on the blog. Each free pattern also has a paid PDF version in my Etsy shop and in my Ravelry store.
The PDFs are ad-free and easy to print. Many of them come with a stitch chart as a bonus, which you won’t find on the blog.
Buying a PDF is the nicest way to support my work. It’s what keeps the free patterns coming.
Behind the Scenes of My Crochet Days
Most of my crocheting happens during family time. At the table with a film on, on the porch in summer, or on the floor right next to the baby gym.

And this is my little photo corner by the window. Two umbrellas, a tripod, a camera and a basket of yarn that somehow never gets smaller.

Let’s Stay in Touch
I send a newsletter twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, with new patterns, tips and posts I think you’ll love. Sign up and the Arys Shawl PDF pattern is yours for free.
If you have a question about a pattern or want to show me what you made, email me at mycrochetory@gmail.com. You can also find me on Pinterest and in my MyCrochetory Ravelry group.
English is not my first language, so please bear with me if you spot a mistake.
