Hi! Thanks for hopping over to the blog today! I have a gorgeous new triangle scarf pattern for you – Namari Mosaic Shawl!

If you’re looking for a way to help you both reduce stress and take your crocheting skills to the next level, here’s an gorgeous mosaic crochet triangle scarf pattern.

Without question, crocheting is my therapy. If the last year of the pandemic have left you feeling a bit unsettled, you’re not alone.

When you’re feeling stressed or anxious in your daily life, take some time for yourself, pick up some yarn and your hook, and spend some time being creative.

Namari Mosaic Triangle Scarf free crochet pattern.

Namari Mosaic Shawl is meant to soothe your soul. It’s relaxing – yet interesting. My favourite kind of work.

It’s the triangle scarf you reach for on blustery days, for chilly nights, and on days you just need a crochet hug. Due to its oversized shape and larger wingspan you end up with a triangle scarf that can be worn and wrapped many ways.

Whether it’s classic over the shoulders, bandana style, side wrapped or any other way you’d like to curl up in her. It’s definitely a comfort shawl.

I hope you find yourself with Namari triangle scarf on the hook relaxed with a smile on your face and in your soul.

If you’ve never tried mosaic crochet, let me tell you something about it: IT’S SO FUN!

Mosaic crochet is a great way to play with color without worrying about carrying two strands of yarn. With only basic and simple crochet stitches you will create gorgeous textured fabric.

Seriously, you end up with a beautiful colorwork project, but you’re only using one color in each row. Even when you add more colors, the process is still the same.

Combine a variegated yarn, like the Scheepjes Our Tribe yarn used here, with a solid-colored yarn to create the illusion of an even more complicated colorwork.

This triangle scarf pattern calls for fingering yarn but could also be made with worsted weight yarn. Let your creativity flow and make something truly unique, but be sure to find your favorite color combination first.

It can be followed either from written instruction, or from charts. The pattern also includes lots of progress pictures to help with stitch placement.

Materials & Tools:

  1. Yarn SCHEEPJES Our Tribe 100g = 420m (450yds), 70% Merino Superwash and 30% Polyamide.

Yarn A: 986 Energise – 655m (716.25yds),

Yarn B: 880 Silver Birch – 630m (689yds),

Note that yardage may vary depending on yarn used, gauge variations or modifications.

  • Hook  size 3.5mm. Adjust  hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge,
  • Tapestry needle (to weave and hide yarn ends),
  • Scissors,
  • Stitch marker.

Level:

Intermediate – one row mosaic crochet.

Size:

approx. 178cm/70” wide and 77cm/30.3” long at center.

Gauge after blocking:

After row 8: 13.3cm/5.23” wide and 5.75cm/2.25” long at center.

Gauge is not crucial for this triangle scarf. However, changes might result in different yardage requirements and finished size.

General Notes:

  • The triangle scarf pattern uses US crochet terminology.
  • This triangle scarf is worked top-down in rows, back and forth, with one color used for each row.
  • The triangle scarf is turned after every two rows. This means, you will work two rows on the RS, two rows on WS, and then again two rows on RS, and so on.
  • STITCHES: When in the instructions you have a stitch followed by a number, eg sc14, this means you have to work 1sc stitch into each of the next 14 sts. When in the instructions you have a number followed by a stitch, eg 2sc, this means you have to work 2 sc stitches into the next (same) stitch.
  • You can either follow the chart or written instructions.
  • Instructions in square brackets […] are worked as many times as indicated.

How to read the Mosaic Chart:

  • Chart is read from bottom to top and each row of squares represents a half of the row.
  • First half of row is read from right to left. After ch-2sp corner the second half is identical and is read from left to right.
  • Each square of the chart represents 1 stitch or 1 skipped stitch.
  • Two green squares represent 2 single crochet worked in one stitch.
  • Red square represents ch-2sp corner.
  • Whenever you see a square of color dedicated to that row, work single crochet.
  • Whenever you see a square of different color in that row, skip that stitch (make chain). To prevent puckering,  make the same number of chain as the number of skipped sts plus ch1. For example, for 1 skipped st – make ch2, for 2 skipped sts – make ch3, for 3 skipped sts – make ch4, etc.
  • Pay special attention to number of skipped stitches.
  • BLmosaicdc and FLmosaicdc will be worked in these skipped sts from two rows below.
  • BLmosaicdc and BLsc are worked on RS of your work and FLmosaicdc and FLsc are worked on WS of your work.
  • Remember, BLmosaicdc are always worked in front of chains of previous row and FLmosaicdc are always worked behind the chains of previous row.
