Leto Shawl – week 4

Hello and welcome back!

It’s the final week of the Leto Shawl pattern. This week we’ll be adding a very simple double crochet and picot finishing edge at the top and then your piece of art will be done!

Materials & Tools:
  1. Yarn creative COTTON DEGRADE 200g = 800 meters, 50% Cotton, 50% Acrylic, 1 cake.
  2. Hook size 3,5mm (US E/4 – UK 9). Adjust  hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge,
  3. Tapestry needle (to weave and hide yarn ends),
  4. Scissors,
  5. 1 Stitch marker.
 Level:

Intermediate.

Size after blocking:

Wingspan – 170cm, Center depth – 74cm

Gauge after blocking:

After Row 9 the triangle is approx. 10cm/4in high.

Gauge is not crucial for this project. However, changes might result in a different yardage requirements and the finished size.

Notes:
  • The pattern uses US crochet terminology.
  • The shawl is worked in rows back and forth.
  • The stitch marker is placed in ch-5 space in the central corner.
  • Ch4 in the beginning of every row counts as treble crochet and when working stitches in last stitch of every row make them into fourth ch of beginning ch4.
  • When crocheting stitches into ch-spaces, you will work them around chains not in the particular chain stitches.
  • The pattern includes the stitch charts.
Stitches & Abbreviations (US terms):

 ch(s) – chain(s) stitch

st(s) – stitch(es)

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

tr – treble crochet

sl st – slip stitch

yo – yarn over

picot – ch3, insert your hook in the third chain from the hook, yarn over and draw the yarn through the stitch and through the loop on the hook.

 sp – space

beg – beginning

prev – previous

sk – skip

pm – place marker

m – marker

rm – reposition marker

Row 52: ch4, 2dc in first st, ch2, sk next 2 dcs, dc in every sts and ch-sps until ch-5 sp with m, (3dc, ch5, rm, 3dc) in ch-5 sp, dc in every sts and ch-sps until last st, ch2, sk next 2 dcs, (2dc, tr) in last st. Turn.     3dc in every ch-2 sp and 4dc in every ch-5 sp (except ch-5 sp with m)

Row 53 – 55: ch4, 2dc in first st, ch2, sk next 2 dcs, dc in every sts until ch-5 sp with m, (2dc, ch5, rm, 2dc) in ch-5 sp, dc in every sts until last st, ch2, sk next 2 dcs, (2dc, tr) in last st. Turn.

Row 56: ch1 (doesn’t count as sc), sc in first st, picot, sc in next st, [sc in next st, picot, sc in next st] rep until ch-5 sp, (sc, picot, 2sc, picot, 2sc, picot) in ch-5 with m, sc in next st, [sc in next st, picot, sc in next st] rep to the end of row.

Fasten off yarn, weave in all ends and block your shawl.

    Are the simplified stitch charts you’ve included here more detailed in the paid version? Or are they the same?

    I just finished this shawl!! It’s the first time doing a geometric pattern. I had to concentrate a little more than usual with some rows in order for things to line up correctly but overall, this pattern was pretty easy… and I’m a relative beginner!!
